ABILITY Awareness
Organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities through housing, education, employment, media and volunteer opportunities.

Ability Connection
Goodwill’s Ability Connection program offers mentoring, internships, scholarships and job placement services to students with disabilities who are interested in an information technology career. A Business Advisory Committee, comprised of dedicated professionals who serve as mentors, help students prepare for and connect to future employment.

ABLEDATA
The ABLEDATA database contains information on more than 30,000 assistive technology products (over 20,000 of which are currently available), from white canes to voice output programs. The database contains detailed descriptions of each product including price and company information.

Able to Work
Able to Work is a consortium of some of North America's largest employers who are "dedicated to increasing the employment of people with disabilities through a coordinated effort." College graduates with disabilities may use the site to explore online job postings or post their resumes for review by Fortune 1000 corporations.

Adaptive Environments
Founded in 1978 to address the environmental issues that confront people with disabilities and elderly people, Adaptive Environments promotes accessibility as well as universal design through education programs, technical assistance, training, consulting, publications and design advocacy. Its mission is to promote, facilitate, and advocate for international adoption of policies and designs that enable every individual, regardless of disability or age, to participate fully in all aspects of society.

Agrability
Since 1991, AgrAbility of Wisconsin has been promoting success in agriculture for farmers with disabilities and their families. AgrAbility of Wisconsin is a partnership between the University of Wisconsin Cooperative Extension and Easter Seals Wisconsin.

Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
The association is a nonprofit membership organization that was established in 1890 to empower people who are deaf or hard of hearing to function independently by promoting universal rights and optimal opportunities to learn to use, maintain, and improve all aspects of their verbal communications, including their abilities to speak, read, use residual hearing, and process both spoken and written language.

The American Association of People with Disabilities is the largest nonprofit, nonpartisan, cross-disability organization in the United States.

American Congress of Community Supports and Employment Services (ACCSES)
The American Congress of Community Supports and Employment Services (ACCSES) is a national, nonprofit organization of vocational rehabilitation service and community supports committed to maximizing employment opportunities and independent living for individuals with mental and physical disabilities.

American Council of the Blind
ACB is a national organization advocating on behalf of persons who are blind or have low vision. ACB also publishes "A Guide to Making Documents Accessible to People Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired."

American Disabled for Attendant Programs Today (ADAPT)
Promotes assisted-living community services for the disabled so that they can live independently. Focuses on areas such as public transit and home-care attendants.

Autism Society of Wisconsin

Badger Association of the Blind

Bazeton Center
The Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law is the leading national legal advocate for people with mental disabilities.

BLN
The BLN is a national program, led by employers, that engages the leadership and participation of companies throughout the United States to hire qualified job applicants with disabilities. Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind
The Lighthouse offers industrial training and training for office careers with courses in word processing, medical and legal terminology, and others. The Deaf Initiative in Information Technology (DIIT) is a project of the Applied Computer Technology Department (ACT), of the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at the Rochester Institute of Technology. This project provides retraining workshops to deaf and hard-of-hearing adults already in the national workforce or preparing for employment in the information technology field, clusters these workshops into a certificate program, and modifies the workshops into undergraduate courses.

Formerly the Presidential Task Force on Employment of Adults with Disabilities, the mission of ODEP is "to bring a heightened and permanent long-term focus to the goal of increasing employment of persons with disabilities." Pathways to Independence
Wisconsin Pathways to Independence is a research and demonstration project proposed by the Governor of Wisconsin, the Department of Health and Family Services and the Department of Workforce Development. Wisconsin Pathways to Independence seeks to remove barriers to employment for people with severe disabilities and provide ready access to the comprehensive help they need in order to work.

Recruitability
This site, part of disabledperson.com, aims to link employers (who can post jobs) to jobseekers (who can post their resumes). Employers and jobseekers need to register with their e-mail addresses. We visited this site in August 2001 because it was heralded by the generally authoritative disability.gov, and were very disappointed; of the ten most recent companies to register, only one job listed. By December 2001, the site had grown considerably, especially with useful articles and tips; the number of job listings was still very limited, but better.

A National Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (RRTC) which works to identify, expand and support strategies that are successful in helping individuals with disabilities obtain employment. The Program on Employment and Disability (PED), housed within the Industrial and Labor Relations School (ILR) at Cornell University, conducts research and provides continuing education and technical assistance on many aspects of disability in the workplace. Since 1968, we have worked throughout the United States and abroad to help companies, labor organizations, government agencies, schools, and communities accommodate and integrate individuals with disabilities. We also interact with policy makers, disability advocates, and rehabilitation program professionals.

Wisconsin Coalition for Advocacy
The Wisconsin Coalition for Advocacy is an independent State agency created to safeguard and advance the civil and human rights of people with disabilities in Wisconsin. Protection and Advocacy provides referrals, consultations, and levels of advocacy assistance. Their services include legal administrative remedies on behalf of people with disabilities who experience disability-related discrimination, including protection under the ADA.

Organization run by the blind addressing the needs of the blind and visually impaired. Provides rehabilitation services, supplies assistive devices at cost, low-interest loans (for business, home improvement and personal), and public education and advocacy.
